A General Introduction Whether we call our request for help 'Soul Retrieval' or help in directing our lives from a place of inner authority (our essence or core self) instead of reacting to our ever changing and unreliable personality energies - there are two points that may need to be remembered. The first is, from the Jungian psychologist James Hillman. He said "You have to give up the life you have, to get to the life that is waiting for you." We therefore have to commit ourselves, and remain committed to change. The second is, we cannot give to others, what we have not experienced, or feel we have not received, ourselves. Our commitment therefore includes releasing our sense of woundedness, and of being separate and alone, and making sure our past needs on physical, psychological, aesthetic and spiritual levels are fulfilled by our adult, objective Self. Only then can we live our lives freely, and with integrity and universality. Everyday you can change, if you really wanted to change. You know everything deep down yourselves. The first step to change is resistance and then acceptance that this is the time to let go. The Healer's job is simply to help draw out this innate self-healing power. The choice for help is always ours. My view of Soul Retrieval work is that it is the freeing of life energy flow, that integrates our Body (Physical), our Emotions, our Mind (Mental) and our Soul (Spirit). In healing, this energy can flow in either direction, and can be impeded by blockages or congestion at any stage, or on any level, on our life journey. SOUL <-> BODY <-> EMOTIONS <-> MIND A useful beginning is to realise that nothing we ‘see’ is it’s reality. We judge everything through the filter of our past experiences, and it is this distorted view of life that causes us mental and emotional distress – eventually leading to physical ill health. Whatever disturbs our peace of mind, whether it appears as anger, fear, depression, frustration, guilt, or regret – all negativities, they all result from the original wounding that we feel has separated us from our essential Self – who we really are – and has left us feeling isolated and disempowered. Out of the five archetypal wounds, one in particular will remain influencing the way we live our lives, until we are able to see that it holds the key to revealing it’s reverse quality, and our healing transformation. The five wounds are named: Rejection, Abandonment, Humiliation or Abuse, Injustice and Betrayal. Which one dominates your life? "If you desire to know where your spiritual ~ Alan Cohen
